In the last 15 or so years, spending on pets has more than doubled. In 2017 alone, Americans spent over $70 billion on their pets and it’s only going up from there. But it’s more than just cat litter and chew toys on the shopping list these days – pet tech is coming to the forefront.

Demographics of pet owners in the United States are shockingly similar from Boomers to Millennials and everyone in between. Despite the differences, there’s one thing all generations can agree on: how much we love our pets. But quite often, our busy lives call us away from home for hours and even days on end. With time in short supply, and our pets waiting patiently for us at home, a little peace of mind can go a long way. The Furbo Dog Camera is one such gadget that’s working to bring our pets a little closer, even when we may be physically far apart. Operating two-way cameras allow for remote viewing, monitoring and communication. This is far from the only piece if hot new pet tech, though – there’s something out there for every kind of pet.

This infographic details the world of pet tech and the emerging market of non-necessity pet spending.
